Biography

"Growing to be a
researcher and an innovator"

Sushmoy Dey
B.tech in Electronics and computer Engineering

Born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Computer Engineering at Punjabi University, Patiala, India, under a fully funded scholarship from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Government of India. India, bringing a cross-cultural perspective to my academic and research journey. Alongside my studies, I currently serve as an Intern at the Atal Incubation Center (AIC), IIIT Kottayam, where I contribute to cutting-edge IoT-based research and patent development.

My core research interests lie at the intersection of Wireless Sensor Networks, UAV-based network deployment, and the Internet of Things, with a strong focus on product design and the development of original, patentable innovations. I have already contributed to notable research work, including BHFR (Blockchain-based Human-in-the-Loop Facial Recognition), a system designed for edge-enabled decision-making, and I am currently developing a new and innovative patent idea of my own.

To deepen my technical expertise, I have participated in numerous training programs and workshops at some of India's most prestigious institutions, including Indian Institute of technology, Roorkee, National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar, and National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research  Chandigarh, where I gained hands-on knowledge of wireless sensor networks and UAV-based systems. I have also visited specialized training centers such as the Indo-Swiss Training Center to further broaden my technical exposure. My growing academic engagement has earned me invitations as a distinguished speaker at international conferences held in Singapore, the Netherlands, Austria, and other countries around the world.

Driven by curiosity and a relentless hunger for knowledge, I am committed to continuously exploring new ideas and technologies. With a clear vision of growing into an accomplished researcher and rising as an innovator.

1. Line-Following Autonomous Robot
Purpose: Designed a robot capable of autonomously navigating a predefined path using IR sensor feedback, demonstrating basic principles of embedded control and sensor-based navigation.

Components: IR sensors, motor driver (L298N), DC motors, Node MCU, chassis, battery pack.

2. Obstacle Detection and Avoidance Robot
Developed an autonomous robot that detects obstacles in real time and dynamically adjusts its path using ultrasonic sensing and reactive control logic. The robot also features light-based navigation, moving only in illuminated conditions and stopping automatically in the dark.

Components: Ultrasonic sensor (HC-SR04), motor driver, DC motors, microcontroller (Arduino), chassis, IR sensors, battery pack etc.

3. Environmental Condition Monitoring System
Purpose: Developed a system to monitor real-time temperature and humidity levels, applying IoT/embedded concepts for environmental data logging.
Components: DHT11 sensor, microcontroller (Arduino), LCD display/serial monitor.

4. Automatic Water Tank Level Controller
Purpose: Designed a system to automatically monitor water level in a storage tank and control the motor accordingly — when the water level reaches a preset point (detected via a sensing wire), the motor switches off automatically, and an indicator light or bell alerts that the tank is full.

Components: Sensing wire/probe (water level detection), relay module, motor, LED/buzzer (alert), water pump/motor.
